| Welcome to Back Room Leather. I moved to Nevada sometime in the mid 1980s, after taking several trips up this way from Arizona, while attending trap shooting events in the Reno area.
I was gun smithing full time then, and had the fortune to fall in with a couple of very well known gunsmiths, Wes Ugalde, and Skip Talbot, both now passed away, and two greater friends, have never been known.
Due to several issues, I was getting "burn out" with guns, and drifted into knives, which I had enjoyed since I was literally a kid...I was carrying a knife daily from about age 6. And I am very sincere about that, lots of boys in those days did the same.
Now, they are considered a weapon, if found in school. I pray for the day, when some common sense will return to this great nation. And I mean that, I pray for that day.
I built a website, Cutters and Collectors. Too broaden the scope, I started making sheaths and pouches. I am basically self taught, though I never passed a chance to talk to local saddle makers, or spend time at the various leather forums on the net.
After several years of selling knives, both on the net, and at area shows, I decided that I needed to concentrate on the leather, as overall sales were about equal at this time. Due to my previous web provider selling, I had to make some major site changes, like it or not.
But the guns you ask....I never totally broke away from that trade, and do some restoration type work, for my self and a few local friends.
Having an internet site, has offered the chance, to have a real deal international business, though small, I dont wish too be everything, to every body. I suspect I have customers in near all 50 states and several countries.
And I count many of them as friends. The Lord has blessed me greatly, I am thankful. We all have what we have, because of his grace, we just tend too forget.
